Dogs have always been at the heart of it.
I’m Kelcy, a dog photographer based in San Luis Obispo County on California’s Central Coast. My work is inspired by the dogs we share our lives with, the connection we have with them, and the wild, beautiful places we get to explore together.
My love for photography started with a roll of film and, fittingly, a dog. Growing up in Kansas, I spent hours wandering with a point-and-shoot camera, photographing open skies, rolling fields, and our family dog, who somehow found her way into nearly every frame.
Photography stayed with me as life changed. When we moved to California in 2019, I fell in love with photographing the landscapes around me and documenting our adventures with our dogs. Over the years, I worked with brands, refined my style, and realized the photographs that meant the most to me were almost always the ones with a dog in them.
That eventually became the heart of my work.
Today, I specialize in photographing dogs and the people who love them. My approach is relaxed, patient, and intentionally built around each dog in front of my camera. I want the beautiful portraits, of course, but I’m just as interested in all the little things that make your dog unmistakably yours.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll usually find me somewhere along the Central Coast with my three dogs, Bodhi, Khalee, and Ranger. They’re a huge part of why this work matters so much to me. I know how quickly the years with them move and how much the photographs that capture who they are become worth with time.
I photograph your dogs the way I photograph my own, with the intention of preserving all the little things that make them who they are.
